Specialized Projects

Eastern Shore, Maryland
During the 1970's it was common practice to dump tires along the shore line to avoid erosion. Today's property owners are trying to clean up these old farm shore lines to restore it to pristine Chesapeake Bay that it is. Total Site Development has assisted the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and the current land owners with this restoration project which includes, the removal of 1,000's of tires and other debris, stabilizing the banks and shot rock hauled from Pennsylvania, erosion control matting and specialized seed mixes. This three year project was put to the test of Hurricanes Isabel, Charlie and Frances which caused massive damage along the Chesapeake shore lines. The restored area only sustained minimal damage. We look forward to doing more of these sensitive environmental projects in any area. View additional images of this project

Bridges and Culverts
The one element in construction that is the hardest to control is water. Total Site Development takes pride in our successful approach in dealing with this difficult environmental element such as retaining walls, bridge construction and even our intense work on an 100 year old bride to bring it up to HD20 standards without compromising its appearance. This was completed using pre-stretched concrete decking and turn of the century stone work with local materials.

Underground Seepage and Retention Basins
Today's new development with little room for storm water management has led to underground systems that can be used as parking lots. Total Site Development has been involved with several unusual systems such as this one installed in an existing parking lot at Home Properties of Devon.
